Starfish International’s mission is to promote public education in underserved communities, aligning with Horace Mann’s six principles.

1. Ignorance and freedom are incompatible.

2. Education should be free at the point of delivery.

3. Children of all socioeconomic standings should receive the same quality of education.

4. Public education should be nonsectarian. 

5. Public education should promote the tenets of a free society. 

6. Public education should be taught by professionally trained teachers. 

Starfish International's vision is to promote equity through servant leadership and a diverse board. An accessible, achievable, and attainable education provides an equal opportunity future and opportunities for self-reliance. Starfish International utilizes a diverse and professional board with expertise in professional development to serve underserved communities. The board of Starfish finds purpose in the belief that education is the foundation of equity.
